The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Director to strategically build and lead the IT team at Septerna. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Technology and will offer an exciting opportunity to take on IT leadership and strategy for a fast-growing Biotech company. This team will be responsible for IT services, infrastructure, projects, security, and partner relationships. This newly created role will require onsite work in South San Francisco, CA. This role includes, but is not limited to:

·Oversight and execution of enterprise IT-related projects across facets of the company.

·Planning, coordination, delivery, and change management for enterprise IT projects.

·Collaborating on systems roadmaps to meet strategic and operations needs of the company.

·Oversight of core IT infrastructure, services, and service partners.

·Implementation of digital security policies and controls.

·Support of Clinical Data Management, Data Science, and Research Informatics functions.

Key Responsibilities: 

·Set strategy for IT infrastructure and software capabilities. Collaborate with stakeholders to define business systems, design and implement enterprise architecture and security, and meet strategic and operational needs based on growth stage of the company.

·Identify and manage consultants and vendors through completion of RFPs/RFIs where applicable, negotiating IT contracts, oversight of vendor fulfillment, and monitoring Service Level Agreement performance.

·Work with company finance and contracts teams for all IT-related budget planning and ongoing financial management within enterprise IT.

·Oversee contingency planning and IT security and compliance by establishing controls and processes in support of data security, PHI, SOX, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.

·Maintain asset inventory across hardware, software, AV, and service components, including close operational integration with security vendors to ensure effective vulnerability management updates.

·Collaborate with end users to facilitate Septerna’s scientific mission through support of lab instrumentation and cloud computing environments.

·Establish and enforce IT Governance and Change control amongst IT and business teams to prioritize and implement improvements for all enterprise systems.

Basic Qualifications:

·BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other related field, and 12 years of hands-on IT support with significant management experience, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industry.

·Extensive and hands-on expertise managing and supporting:

oBusiness systems requirements, roadmaps, implementation & operations in a Biotech setting – including quality and clinical data management systems.

oEnd user computing systems, e.g., Mac, PC, mobile devices.

oIdentity management, e.g., Okta.

oSaaS applications, e.g., 0365, Zoom, Slack, etc.

oMeeting room AV technology and platforms.

·Experience evaluating, implementing, and managing scientific data management platforms, cloud computing (AWS) and IT vendor services.

·Experience with FDA and SOX compliance requirements including support of audits.

·Experience managing technology projects; especially managing IT aspects of high growth buildouts.

·Extensive vendor management experience.

·Experience implementing SaaS systems and other software solutions to support regulated life science business processes.

·Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with a friendly, communicative, and collaborative style.

·Exceptional integrity and willingness to tackle diverse challenges.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in South San Francisco, CA is $210,000 - $230,000. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location and relevant education or training. Septerna's compensation package also includes benefits, stock options, and annual target bonus for full-time positions.
